As marketers, we’re always looking for ways to make our jobs easier, and one way is using tools that are designed to help us do just that. One of these tools is SEMrush, which can be used to improve your Denver SEO strategy and put time back in your day. Take a look at some of the many features of this incredible tool:

Backlinks

Inbound links are those placed on third party websites that direct users back to a page on your website. Marketers spend countless hours trying to increase their brand’s inbound links in order to appear more relevant and valuable to Google’s algorithm. But, have you ever wondered how you’re supposed to keep track of all of your backlinks? How will you know if someone links to your website? Now, you can use SEMrush to find out.

Simply enter your domain into SEMrush, and it will provide you with a list of links on third party websites that are directed back to your site. Plus, you will also get to see the anchor text used on the link, and the value of the link based on the referring domains perceived authority. Learn about anchor text here.

Keyword Research

Everyone knows you must target relevant keywords in every aspect of your SEO strategy, but how do you know you’re using the right words? Marketers often make the mistake of choosing keywords that are too competitive, making it very difficult to rank on the first or even the second page of search results. To check your keywords, use SEMrush’s keyword tool. All you have to do is enter keywords you are thinking about targeting. The tool will analyze each of the keywords and let you know the difficulty associated with each one. It will also tell you how many monthly searches were performed for each keyword, and how many results are returned by the search engine. Using this tool, you can select keywords that are relevant to your business but low in competition and CPC.

SEMrush will also suggest additional keywords you can use to improve your SEO strategy. The tool will show you lists of synonyms and variations of the keywords you are already using that may help your SEO strategy. For example, if you are targeting the keywords “luxury cosmetics,” the SEMrush tool may suggest you also target “high end cosmetics” or “luxury makeup.” It will also show you long tailed keywords that you could add to your targeting strategy, such as “luxury perfumes for women” or “luxury floral perfumes for women.” These long tailed keywords are more specific, so you shouldn’t expect them to have a high volume of searches. But, that doesn’t mean they’re not effective.

Competitor Research

Have you ever wondered what keywords your competitors are targeting in their PPC ads? Let SEMrush finally get to the bottom of this question that is on every marketer’s mind. Type in one of your competitor’s domains, and SEMrush will return a number of different metrics for you to analyze. First, you will be able to see what keywords your competitors are using in their PPC ads. Use this information to guide your strategy. Are they using short, general keywords or long-tailed custom terms? Are they using branded keywords to ensure their customers don’t stray to a competitor? This is valuable information—and it can all be provided by SEMrush.

You can also use the “Organic Research” feature of SEMrush to see what keywords your competitors are ranking for organically. What does this mean? If a competitor is ranking high in the search results for a keyword they are not paying to target with PPC ads, this is said to be an organic ranking. SEMrush will analyze data from both Google and Bing to show you how your competitors are ranking with various keywords.

Domain vs. Domain

One of the most interesting features on SEMrush is the domain vs. domain tool. Enter up to three websites, including your own, and SEMrush will show you how they compare to each other in an easy to read dashboard. You will be able to see how you and your competitors are ranking for certain keywords so you know where you have room to improve. This is also a great report to pull if you have to present information to a higher-up within your company because of the easy visuals it provides.

Brand Monitoring

If you’ve ever wondered what your customers are saying about you, now is your chance to find out with a little help from SEMrush. This tool will search high and low on the web to provide you with any mentions of your brand name or a competitor’s name. Use this information to help you address customer complaints, improve customer service, or look for new opportunities. For example, if you find a lot of customers are saying “I love Brand X, but I wish it also came in the color red,” this would let you know there is a high demand for your product in a variety of colors.

Social Media

SEMrush also allows you to look at how your brand is performing on social media by showing you information on your social audience, recent activity and engagement rates. Because it stores data, it will even compare your performance now to what it was in the past so you can see if there are any significant changes. This tool makes it much easier to pull analytics and monitor social media campaigns. Without it, you would have to log on to every social media platform and manually pull reports, which can be a very time-consuming and frustrating process. Now, all of this information is located in one place within SEMrush.
